Style Drop: Biking Around

I love to bike ride. Although I seldom do its a fun way to exercise and get in the fresh air. So for all those who vowed to do more exercise as their New Year's resolution here is some practical (and not so practical) and fashionable ensembles to wear whether your on your way to NYFW or riding to the corner shop to get some milk.

Work of the Gods…The Valentino Gavarino Rockstud Shoe…and I know I'm a Few Years Late

Ok, so lets just all bask in the glory of the Valentino Gavarino Rockstud shoe. And yes, I am aware that these came into the sphere of bloggers and street style savants everywhere many a times ago.
I'M SORRY, I'M (REALLY) LATE.

Ok, so now thats done, can I just say how much I adore these shoe and want it to be apart of my life. But alas, a 17 year olds salary from her local kiosk will not suffice. So after being in denial for one two many months I went on the hunt for my own Valentino Rockstud dupe.

DIY Paper Tassel Garland

So my Year 12 formal (or Senior Prom, for those Americans out there) has come and gone but the memories are here to stay. On the day my friends all came over to my house before hand for 'Pre's', were we took photos, fangirled over each others dresses and basically got ready for the amazing night!

So being my typical self, I wanted to make by backyard look really nice and pretty for the night. So essentially my vision for my backyard was to be covered in pastel paper tissue tassels and flowers, paper garlands and the like.

On my googling adventure I discovered that you can buy paper tassels from a very snazzy company called the "Confetti System". They sell them for $130 for 12…they were pretty but not worth the amount of clothes I could buy for that. So I hopped onto Youtube and discovered how I could make some myself. I used a video from Kin Community and from a few blogs to get a general idea of how to make them, most people used hot glue guns, but AINT NOBODY GOT TIME FOR DAT, so I developed my own method. So without further ado, this is how I made my Paper Tassels inspired by the Confetti System.

Soundtrack

Did you know that music can be as addictive as drugs? Ok so i'm not completely 100% sure but in my experience music is pretty great. Anywho I thought I would share my top 5 songs this week. I literally replay songs over and over until I get sick of them, and then when I discover them again, the cycle continues. But anyway, here are my favourites..

Casual and Slightly Preppy…I think

My first style post! Today the weather couldn't make up its mind, sunny one minute then windy and raining the next, so I wore this outfit that was perfect for both. I threw on my go-to white shirt and denim shorts, then to make to look a bit more put together and slightly preppy I added the pale pink flats and the Tommy cardigan reminiscent of a American varsity jacket.

Welcome!

Well hi there, I'm Sarah and welcome to Lola and White. Before anyone asks (and at this point I don't think anyone will) I don't know where the name of this blog came from - especially the 'Lola' portion. But I can tell you that the 'white' portion came from looking at my white curtains which where slightly (and I use the word slightly quite loosely) reminiscent of the ethereal blowing drapes in Baz Luhrman's film 'The Great Gatsby' - all I'm missing is the great mansion in which it is set, my own Gatsby and oh Daisy running through them. Well that was an extraordinarily long sentence.

The Great Gatsby Set

And another of the The Great Gatsby set…oh wait no sorry, my room.

But anyway…now that I have graduated and high school has officially ceased (forever!) I have the freedom to what I please…like start a blog. I have been thinking of starting a style/lifestyle blog for a while now and I have finally clicked the 'create' button in blogspot…so here we are.

The majority of my posts will be dedicated to showing you my outfits etc although I will be slipping in the small DIY or ramble here and there. I am nervous to start this but very excited, so stick around and come for the ride!
